A foundation is one key part of the home that is often overlooked. Having a good sturdy foundation is essential to keeping your home in great condition for many years. While foundations are strong and made to last, they typically will develop cracks over time. Ignoring these cracks can lead to major damages down the road. Not only will these cracks become unsightly, but they will also become a source for water to penetrate your home and cause mold, mildew, fungus, and other water damage.
Aquatech Waterproofing takes a careful approach to assessing foundation damage. We take every crack seriously and take the necessary precautions to make sure your foundation doesn’t become a flood hazard for your home. Because concrete is a very porous surface, it can let a lot of water inside. When there are cracks in the foundation, the water will leak right into your home. Foundation cracks can also cause your home to shift and become less sturdy. That’s why it is important to take care of any foundation cracks as quickly as you can.
When evaluating foundation cracks, it’s important to consider the size and shape of the cracks. This can help in preventing future damage to the foundation and the home. Not every foundation repair is the same, so we always thoroughly investigate your entire foundation before starting our repairs.
Once an assessment of your foundation is completed, Aquatech Waterproofing will repair and seal all of the cracks so that water can no longer penetrate your home. We use a thorough process that involves cleaning, cementing, and sealing your foundation. Our foundation crack repairs are guaranteed, which means you won’t have to worry about them only lasting a few years. We stand by our services, so one call to us means a waterproof basement for you.

The Exterior Basement Waterproofing Procedure
The main exterior waterproofing solution that we offer involves providing a sort of waterproof jacket for the foundations of your home. Using highly waterproof materials, we install the added layers of protection, which will prevent any damp from entering the exterior walls of the building. This provides a lasting solution that also supports the structural integrity of the building.
The procedure for our main exterior waterproofing solution is as follows:
1. Trench Excavation
We excavate around your property, down to the weeping tile pipe. The actual depth can vary depending on the elevation of the building, but is usually between 4 and 8 feet.
2. Wall Cleaning and Brushing
Next, we clean and power blast the wall, to expose the concrete or brickwork that comprises your exterior walls. We can then check for any gaps or structural cracks.
3. Exterior Wall Drying with Blow Torch
After brushing and washing the exterior wall, the Aquatech Waterproofing team will ensure that wall surface is dry by using a blow torch where it is needed.
4. Fixing Wall Cracks
With the walls exposed, and the cracks identified, next comes the fundamental repairs to the foundations. We chisel out any defected areas, and apply hydraulic cement to any crevices. This then expands, and provides restoration and protection for your existing walls.
5. Aqua Bloc Applying
Next we apply aquabloc, a special material that provides structural stability, and has low permeability. The stone is specially designed to block the movement of water, and so will add a highly effective waterproofing layer to your home.
6. Yellow Jacket Mesh Applying
We don’t stop with just one layer of aquabloc. We apply the yellow jacket to hold the material firmly in place, followed by another layer of aquabloc. This provides dual protection, ensuring that no water will ever reach your true exterior wall.
7. Polytarp Vapour Barrier Applying
A polytarp vapour barrier is applied that ensures an added layer of protection against vapour and water leaks between the outside of the wall, and the inside.
8. Delta Membrane Applying
The final layer of waterproof protection is in the form of a delta membrane and accompanying drainage system. This allows ground water to channel away from your home, and relieves the building of hydrostatic pressure, ensuring its long term integrity. This layer takes pressure off the waterproof materials beneath, and helps the work to last for a lifetime. The membrane and drainage are covered with a thick coating of gravel to maximize the drainage.
